SUMMARY:Expression of Resilience: The Colors We Carry Reception
DESCRIPTION:                                  \nThe Colors We Carry is an art exhibition dedicated to raising awareness for breast and ovarian cancer. This exhibition showcases a powerful collection of artwork that explores the journeys of strength\, resilience\, and hope\, using symbolic colors of pink and teal\, and imagery related to the BRCA genetic mutation. \nThrough art\, we aim to create a visual dialogue about these cancers – bringing awareness\, sharing stories\, and honoring the individuals who are impacted by these diagnoses. Whether through abstract\, figurative\, or symbolic work\, we encouraged artists to express their personal connections to the cause and to contribute to the collective healing and awareness. \nThis show includes painting\, mixed media\, fabric art\, and digital art. The opening reception event will also feature a live tattooing as part of an installation collaboration\, featuring tattoo artist\, Mike Shaffer. \nTogether\, let’s use our creativity to spark conversations and inspire change. \nJoins us on October 10th\, 5:30-8pm for the opening reception. \nFor more information about this event\, reach out to us at gallery@frameofmindmt.com or 406-549-8589.

SUMMARY:The Joy Of Printmaking With Marvin Pauls: Part II
DESCRIPTION:Discover the exciting world of printmaking: Create mini prints on a mini press! We will scratch images on a 1 ½” x 2 ¼” piece of plexiglass with a sharpened nail\, creating a drypoint plate that will be inked intaglio and printed on a press that fits in your hand! WOW! Cool huh? (Don’t worry if you don’t understand the terms above\, you will by the end of the class.)\nWhat you will do:\nDraw your own image that fits the plate you have selected. Scratch the image into the plate creating lines and values. Ink the plate\, run it through the press\, admire what you’ve done. Refine the image if you need to and reprint it. \nWhat you need:\nImage references help! KEEP IT SIMPLE. Bring your sketchbook with some small-ish drawings and some photos of intriguing things (phone images are fine): a plant\, animal\, or other simple objects\, designs\, or interesting doodles. Don’t forget a pencil\, an alert mind\, and an apron (or your clothes will get messy). \nLevel of experience desired:\nKnowledge of value range achieved with lines\, able to follow a series of directions\, able to follow a list of\nverbal instructions and the courage to ask for assistance if you forget something (the process of printmaking\ncan be exacting and it can be easy to mess things up for everyone if you aren’t paying attention).\nDuring the first class we will go over the basics of printmaking\, create the image\, scratch it on the plexiglass\,\nink it\, and pull 3-5 prints from it. When everyone has printed several images we will all clean up.\nDuring the second class we will have a short ten minute review\, continue printing in black ink and then I’ll\nintroduce colored inks\, and show and discuss some other hand coloring techniques. \nYour Instructor: Marvin Pauls is a mixed media artist who also taught art at Hellgate High School for 29\nyears. Printmaking is his primary medium. He came up with a more involved version of this project for a\nPrintmaking class created during his tenure at Hellgate.
